School Leaving Certificates Results

These will be out in about 2 weeks. We have ten students who sat this exam and are eagerly awaiting their results. If they pass they will be wanting to start college in August. It is a tough Government set exam so the fail rate can be quite high. I will let you know how they do. Six girls and four boys wrote the exam. Two for the second time.
Mann is in Pokhara at the moment checking on the Literacy and Sewing Programs. The sewing shop and training centre is really busy and training five women at the present time so he is looking for another shop next door or very close to the main one. This will give us more room to add two more machines for women trainees. We did not expect such success immediately or we would have rented a bigger space to start with. The women are extemely happy with this project.
Bijaya who I wrote about earlier on this blog is now attending computer classes thanks to a donor who read about him here.

NEF/Rotary Evening is Cancelled

Unfortunately we have had to cancel this event as the Rotary had too many other events this month and felt that not enough Rotary members would be able to attend.

I am, however, having a presentation at my home instead. You are most welcome to attend this on the 19th at 7 pm. I have had these before and they are very successful as it is a smaller group and so very interactive with questions etc. If you wish to attend please let me know at 250-746-8936 or email nepeducation@yahoo.ca.

I am really sorry about this as I was looking forward to meeting you all and thought it would be a great evening.

This Saturday the 12th I am at the Scout's garage sale in Cobble Hill from 9 am to 12 noon selling Nepali handicrafts. This is at the corner of Cameron Taggart and Shawnigan/Mill Bay Rd.

First NEF Woman to attend school full time

This is the newspaper article on Kiresma and Neruta in school together. This lady is now in class two with her daughter. They attend High Mount School in Simpani, Pokhara. They were also featured on the National Television News in Nepal. We are very excited about this and really hope that she continues and does well and that more women will follow.
